How Long it Takes
How Long it Takes
PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO INCREASED DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL DEMAND, THERE WILL BE SOME DELAYS TO MOST ORDERS.
ALSO, IT IS CURRENTLY PEAK SEASON FOR KARATE COMPETITIONS IN JAPAN, CAUSING FURTHER DELAYS.
At kuroobiya, our purpose is to provide personalised dogi and belts, which have been professionally adjusted and embroidered by the manufacturers themselves, for the best possible finish. To this end, we generally do not keep a stock of products.
We do not wait for a large group of orders. Your order will be processed soon after receipt of payment.
(Note: we usually allow a 2 day "cool off " period for any possible changes. Once orders go to the manufacturer it will likely be impossible to change as noted in our conditions.)
We will try to keep you informed as best we can as to the progress of your order. Inquiries are welcome, though the amount of information we can give is limited as the manufacturers do not provide updates or information as to the progress of the order.
You can also check the status of your order by logging on to your Kuroobiya account. Any updates can be seen there.
Hirota
Currently, we are seeing around at least 2 months for embroidered belts and up to 6 weeks for unembroidered belts. We have now been told to allow 5 6 months or more for fully tailored dogi and up to two months for standard, ready made dogi (with or without embroidery and adjustments, though without is generally faster).
Unfortunately, we have no control over this and beg for your understanding and patience in this matter.
Hirota are severely short-staffed and overworked and taking a very long time to process all orders.
UPDATE:
MH-10 Dogi
The MH-10 dogi is now available again as of April 1, 2025 in the ready made version.
Tokyodo International
Tokyodo Int. standard dogi (K- series) are currently around 3-4 weeks for us to receive. Special dogi like the AT series, EX series, S-1, SP-1000 and Samurai series are generally taking one to two month as they do not keep stock of these dogi and make them to order. Fully tailored dogi are now taking around 2 to 3 months possibly longer depending on season.
Embroidered belts are now generally taking 4 to 6 weeks to prepare, longer during peak season.
Tokyodo International are currently the fastest supplier.
Tokaido
Tokaido are now taking at least one month to prepare dogi orders and up to three months for special order ones and some dogi like the SSA, NST, and KMJ, KEN and SEN that are in short supply .
They are generally taking 4- 6 weeks for belts. Silk belts are taking around 6- 9 weeks for them to make. The times can increase considerably during peak seasons.
Hayate:
Currently, Hayate make all dogi to order and take around 6-8 weeks to make.
ALL the manufacturers are prone to "seasonal" changes in service. In non busy periods in Japan, you can expect faster processing, however in peak seasons ( usually mid April to end of August and at the end of year) delays can be expected due to the sheer volume of orders and stock issues. This can add several weeks to belt orders and up to 6 weeks for fully tailored products. Unfortunately, we have absolutely no control over this so please be patient.
