As an owner of a shuriedo silk obi (which is worn out) i wanted to find an obi which was thick, in cotton and made of exceptional quality with embroidery to match too, after many hours considering tokaido, shuriedo, i decided upon a Tokyodo International " Yohachi" cotton belt with grey silver embroidery. The obi arrived to my door in just under three weeks and when i opened it i was pretty pleased that i had made the right decision, the stiching is second to none and done in very very neat rows, the belt itself was stiff but ater a few wears it starts getting softer but not losing its shape, which to me is a good sign of a quality belt, to top it all off the grey silver embroidery of Wado ryu really stood out on the obi as most people usually have red yellow or orange kanji on their belt, all in all i was very pleased with it.
The quality of this belt is second to none. I have also owned both Tokaido and Hirota belts and can say that whilst it doesn't have quiet the same sheen as these, feels much more durable. This belt also feels more heavy and dense than other belts, and when broken in hangs very nicely. I am very pleased with this belt, and would highly recomend it.
I wanted to try Tokyodo as they are an up-and-coming company here in Japan. I've dealt with them before and found their products to be very good quality along with their customer service and commitment. My old belt was a Tokaido and very nice it was too. I recently bought a TOKYODO HERO Dogi (see my review for that) and wanted a new belt to match. The quality of my new belt is superb. The embroidery is perfect and is exactly what I wanted. As far as comparing it to my old belts, I would say that there is little to choose between them. From the belts I have owned: Tokaido, Hirota and now Tokyodo, they are all superb. My choice was simply to match my new belt with my new dogi. I'm sure that anyone buying this belt would be extremely satisfied, as am I. I can thoroughly recommend the TOKYODO products that I have purchased.
